Sumo Saga
Sumo is a traditional Japanese sport with deep cultural roots, dating back over 1,500 years. It involves two wrestlers, or rikishi, competing in a ring called a dohyo. The goal is simple: force the opponent out of the ring or make any part of their body (other than the soles of their feet) touch the ground. Matches are short but intense, often lasting only seconds. Sumo wrestlers follow strict rituals, such as salt-throwing to purify the ring, before each bout. Training is rigorous, with wrestlers living in communal stables, adhering to strict diets to maintain their massive size. The sport is governed by the Japan Sumo Association and features six major tournaments annually. Sumo embodies discipline, strength, and tradition, making it a revered spectacle in Japan and beyond.
